The effects of the European Green Deal on the chemical, pharmaceutical and medical sectors and the strategies to be developed in this direction were discussed in the webinar titled “How to Keep Up with the Green Transformation.”

Nezih Barut, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Pharmaceutical Industry Council, Timur Erk, President of TOBB Chemical Industry Council, and Mete Özgürbüz, President of TOBB Medical Council, discussed the work and practices carried out by the European Union aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero in 2050.

Horizon Consulting Co-Founder Eser Erginoğlu explained that the aim is to reduce the carbon emissions, which have the largest share of greenhouse gas emissions. He detailed how to price carbon and what businesses should do in the adaptation process. He informed that three new approaches are on the agenda to reduce carbon emissions to zero in these sectors.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that the Border Carbon Regulation, which has become the most important agenda in the European market, where most of the exports are realized, should not become a non-tariff obstacle.

Berna Bildik, Environmental Engineer at the Turkish Standards Institute, explained the greenhouse gas reporting and verification systems with her presentation. She made assessments about the certification and scope of these processes.
