Waste and Recycling Industry Council discussed sector’s problems

The meeting of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Turkish Waste and Recycling Industry Council was held with the strong interest and participation of industry representatives under the chairmanship of TOBB Board Members S. Selim Kandemir, Zeki Kıvanç and Council President Ali Kantur.​

TOBB Board Member S. Selim Kandemir said in his opening speech that the trend has changed in the world and that big brands are now demanding recycled raw materials. Kandemir added that the establishment of the TOBB Waste and Recycling Industry Council demonstrated the importance of TOBB and Turkey for this issue.

TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç stated in his opening speech that the Deposit-Return System, which is widely used in the world and is an effective tool for collecting waste, will be managed from a single point with the Environmental Agency officially established in recent weeks. Kıvanç added that as TOBB, the issue of zero waste is very important and activities are carried out to raise the awareness of the industrialists by organizing information meetings and webinars.

In the first agenda item of the meeting, information was given about the activities carried out by the Council since election.

During the meeting, where the Deputy Speakers of the Lower Committees made presentations on the subcommittee meetings, consultations were held with the Council Members on the current and urgent problems of the sector.
