Turkey Glassware Council made assessments for 2020

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Turkey Glassware Council met via video conference to evaluate the sector for 2020 and address current issues with the participation of industry representatives, chaired by TOBB Vice President Ali Kopuz and Council President Murat Kolbaşı.​

Ali Kopuznoted that at the meeting held on November 28th attended by TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Treasury and Finance Minister Lütfi Elvan, Justice Minister Abdülhamit Gül, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli, Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan, Family, Labor and Social Services Minister Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk and Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey President Naci Ağbal, where the sector's problems and solution proposals were conveyed firsthand.

Kopuz also added that with the 6.7% growth achieved in the third quarter, the market's expectations were exceeded and a significant recovery was achieved.

During the meeting where Councilors consulted on 5 problems - 5 solution proposals, information was provided about the latest situations of the current issues followed by the sector.

During the meeting, information was given about the works carried out in order to match the numbers of the European Community Industrial Product List (ProdCom) and the Unit Price Tariffs (Pose numbers) of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and to update the domestic goods lists more understandably within the scope of the regulation in the regulations on construction works, goods purchase tenders, service purchase tenders and consultancy tenders.

In the last part of the meeting, the general evaluation of the sector was made and the expectations for 2021 were discussed.
