- UMREK and YERMAM efforts evaluated

Turkey Mining Council President Halil Ibrahim Kırşan extended his congratulations to the new members of UMREK and thanked the previous members of UMREK for their contributions in the previous period. Representing TOBB at UMREK, he stated that they are aiming for successful works in the new term.

UMREK Members invited to the meeting, Prof. Dr. Atiye Tuğrul, Akan Gülmez, Recep Bildik, Veli Doğan, Kadem Ekşi and Cem Yüceer, introduced themselves to council members and made evaluations about UMREK.

UMREK Vice President Prof. Dr. Atiye Tuğrul, with his presentation on “Developments related to UMREK (National Mineral Resource and Reserve Reporting Commission)” relayed detailed information to the council members about the operation and work of UMREK. Tuğrul's presentation touched on the work carried out between 2012 and 2020, the purpose of UMREK’s establishment, the scope and principles of UMREK code, the structure of UMREK AND YERMAM, and relations with CRISCO.

YERMAM Chairman Halit Semih Demircan informed the council members about YERMAM and its operation with a detailed presentation. In the presentation, Mr. Demircan gave details about the establishment and purpose, structure, operation and plans of YERMAM.

Mr. Nevzat Kavaklı, Advisor to the TOBB Turkey Mining Council, shared his presentation with the council members by making a detailed study on “Problems related to Forest Permit Processes and Permit Costs and Foreign Practices,” raised at the previous meeting.

After the presentations, council members and other participants posed their questions and their assessments of the issues.
