UNWTO tables future of tourism with affiliated members

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Turkey Tourism Council Member Osman Ayık and representatives of the Directorate of Sector Councils participated in the Affiliated Members 42nd General Session on 5-6 November 2020 via videoconference.​

The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has once again brought together industry leaders for high-level talks aimed at strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors. The 42nd General Session of members of the UN expert agency focused both on urgent priorities for the vital reboot of tourism and on its long-term mission to ensure that the sector remains an important pillar of sustainable development. About 150 affiliated members attended on the first day of the meetings, while attendance was also intense on the second day of the meetings.

 

The event provided a high-level platform which allows members to share their best practices and recovery recommendations. 'Saving Tourism' themed, "Rebuilding Trust. Strengthening Partnerships" session reiterated the UNWTO's priority on rebuilding trust in international travel and promoting cooperation at all levels.

 

Turkey Tourism Council Member Osman Ayık said that the "International Investment Forum", which is planned to be organized by TOBB in cooperation with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), can be held digitally and that this event will give the opportunity to share common experiences.

 

The meeting emphasized the importance of increasing TOBB and UNWTO cooperation.
