Prof. Dr. Yusuf Sarınay appointed as TOBB ETU Rector

Prof. Dr. Güven Sak, Rector of TOBB University of Economics and Technology, has quit office as Rector voluntarily to focus on academic studies. According to the resolution, signed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Sarınay was appointed Rector in his place.​

- Who is Prof. Dr. Yusuf Sarınay?

Prof. Dr. Yusuf Sarınay was born in Konya in 1959 and graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Social and Administrative Sciences, Department of History in 1981. After starting work as a Research Assistant at Hacettepe University in 1983, he received his Master's Degree in 1985. In 1994, he was appointed to the MEB Training Board at the Historical Specialization Commission of the Republic of Turkey. In 1996, he was appointed as Assistant Professor at Hacettepe University. In 2002, he became an associate professor.

On January 16, 2001, he was appointed General Director of the State Archives of the Prime Minister's Office. In October 2003, he was elected as a Member of the Executive Committee of the Turkish Military History Commission. Between 2004 and 2012, he served as a Member of the Information Acquisition Evaluation Board by the Council of Ministers. In 2004, he was appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors of the European Branch of the International Archive Council. In 2005, DPT 9. He worked at the Cultural SpecialIzation Commission on the Development Plan. He served as a member of UNESCO Turkey National Commission and a member of the Board of Directors of the Yunus Emre Institute.

Since 2012, he has served as Dean and Vice Rector of TOBB University of Economics and Technology Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
