Geographically Marked Products registered by Chambers/Exchanges exceeds 200

The number of geographically marked products registered by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) has reached 206 and the number applications has reached 197.​

Awareness is increasing day by day regarding geographical signs, which are a reflection of Turkey's rich geography as well as cultural values.

In this context, of 501 geographically marked products registered in Turkey, 206 were registered by Chambers and Exchanges. Of the 595 products in the application phase, 197 have been initiated by Chambers and Exchanges.

Among the top three geographically marked products registered by Chambers/Exchanges are 25 products by the Şanlıurfa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 12 products by the Gaziantep Commodity Exchange, 5 products by the Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The first three places in the geographical sign applications are Bolu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (12), Gaziantep Commodity Exchange (11) and Adana Chamber of Commerce (9).

- Geographical marker increase adds value

Geographical markers add value to products by registering the uniqueness of the products, highlighting the distinguishing qualities of local products. Thus, it develops local economies by giving producers a competitive advantage.

Chambers and Exchanges also work diligently on the inspection, promotion and marketing of geographical signs, maintaining the wealth that these lands with geographical signs.
