Yağız Eyüboğlu elected as the TOBB Turkey Liquefied Petroleum Gas Council President

TOBB Turkey Liquefied Petroleum Gas Council convened at TOBB Social Facilities with the attendance of TOBB Accounting Member İlhan Parseker. Council President elections took place during the meeting wherein Turkey LPG Association President Yağız Eyüboğlu was elected President, Erciyaz Gaz Inc. Board President Rasim Kahyaoğlu, Shell Gas Inc. CEO Semih Genç and Independent LPGs and Highway Dealers Association President Yılmaz Cömert were elected Vice-Presidents.

Textile and garment sectors seek joint solutions to problems

TOBB Turkey Textile Industry and Garment and Ready Made Clothes Industry Councils met with TOBB Board Member Mustafa Boydak’s presiding in order to assess the latest sector developments. With the attendance of the sectors’, NGOs’ and public administration institutions’ high level representatives, the meeting in Istanbul sought joint solutions to the sectors’ common problems.​ ​

19th BSEC-URTA General Assembly held in Bucharest

The Union of Road Transport Associations in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Region (BSEC-URTA), of which the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey is an honorary member and the TOBB Vice-President Halim Mete is the Vice-President for the 2011 Term of, held its 19th General Assembly in Bucharest.​ ​

Turkey’s greatest asset is its young population

Kocaeli Chamber of Industry President Ayhan Zeytinoğlu said that Turkey isn’t rich in natural resources but that its greatest asset is at half its population is under the age of 27 but that the highest unemployment rate is in the young population with 22%.

Overland Passenger Transportation Council demands “standard” for coach stations

TOBB Turkey Overland Passenger Transportation Council convened in Istanbul. In the meeting, council members stated that coach station entry and exits are a burden on the sector; station entry fee maximums and work manner of coach stations must be reevaluated.​ ​

Packaging Council request lab for hazardous materials

TOBB Turkey Packaging Council convened under Council President Oktay Duran in the TOBB Istanbul Service Building. During the meeting the handling of hazardous materials in regards to ADR Regulation, which encompasses laws for land transportation of hazardous materials in the EU, was discussed in order to bring packaging standards up to par by the sector’s representatives. Council members drew attention to the need for a laboratory for the testing of packaging for hazardous materials, a subject that was brought up in the Turkey Economic Council.​ ​

TİG payment system will also cover private hospitals after 2012

The structural work and training for the TİG system, which calculates the budget needs for permanent illnesses encoded on the system per patient for hospitals, in the hospitals working with the Social Security Institution (SSK) are still ongoing. One of the most important things needed in order to ensure that the systems works properly is personnel who can encode for the system in hospitals.​ ​

Travel Agencies and Guides Council assess the situation in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya

Turkish Travel Agencies and Guides Council came together with the attendance of TOBB Board Vice-President Halim Mete at TOBB Istanbul Service Building. With Council President Başaran Ulusoy presiding, the emerging situation in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya was assessed as well as the possible double reservations for the 2011 tourism period and the possible precautions and solutions.​ ​

According to Journey Authorization Permits and TIR Carnet Issued Statistics by TOBB;

In May of 2011, there has been a decrease in the number of Journey Authorization Permits issued by 13,28% and an increase in the number of TIR Carnets issued by 2,34% in comparison to May of 2010.

Food Council points out ‘insufficient production and high cost’ in red meat

TOBB Turkey Food Industry Council discussed the difficulties with red meat, emphasized the problems caused by ‘inability for sufficient production’ and ‘encountering high costs of production’.​ ​
