The Private Hospitals Service Quality Standards (HKS) Training Meeting was conducted at TOBB University of Economy and Technology (ETU), organized by the Ministry of Health and TOBB – Turkey Healthcare Institutions Council. During the meeting, attended by the representatives of 320 hospitals providing service in Turkey, the Ministry of Health provided Service Quality Standards training to the quality representatives of private hospitals.

Giving the opening speech of the meeting, Turkey Health Institutions Council President Seyit Karaca provided information regarding the works of the Council. Karaca pointed out that the rapid transformation process, which started in 2002, affected the health sector the most and related how it has become easier to reach patients and that many financial problems were addressed. Seyit Karaca said, “We will witness many new things in this new term.”

- Health sector expects ameliorating measures

Stating that the private sector faces issues with physical applications of legislation, Karaca said, “The hospitals being newly constructed can be built to quality standards. However many hospitals are having issues with these at the moment. In addition, as the health sector, we hope to transition to a process oriented quality studies. One of the issues is that quality assessment is based off of the fee from the patients. We expect ameliorating measures to assist the health sector in the current time of financial uncertainty.”

- Ministry shares its experiences

Ministry of Health Deputy Director Hasan Güler emphasized that they are determined to share their experiences with all hospitals without discriminating between state, private or university hospitals, “The goal of Service Quality Standards is to develop competition between all of these hospitals and have that competition take place in an environment of fairness. The work will bring competition to new levels and improve the service quality. In this regard, when the grading system was first devised, a preparatory set was made available to hospitals for training and many training courses were conducted. These works will continue to be conducted.”

During the two day meeting the attendees will receive training on; HKS Methodology, Service Quality Management in Hospitals, HKS Document Management System, Private Hospitals Central Assessment Process, Patient Consent and Legality Aspect (Patient and Employee Safety Legislation), Laboratory and Waste Security, Patient Care, Indicator Management, Safe Surgical Applications and Surgical Safety Checklists, Infection Control and Prevention, Sterilization Services, Stock Management and Pharmacy Services, Patient Records and Files and Employee Safety.
