TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the “Adding Value to the Economy Award Ceremony” held at the Çerkezköy Chamber of Trade and Industry. Stating that the Turkish private sector has made 76 billion lira’s of investments in the country’s future. He went on to say that the Turkish private sector, which has enabled Turkey to be one of the 5 fastest growing economies in the world, deserves a medal.
“We may not have petroleum or natural gas as a resource but what we have is an extraordinarily enterprising spirit. Our entrepreneurs deal in 200 countries and they don’t even speak any foreign languages. Now, that deserves a medal.”
In his speech, Hisarcıklıoğlu drew attention to the fact that to increase wealth we also need to increase our number of entrepreneurs, touching on the importance of nurturing and enabling women and the youth inclined to entrepreneurship, that they need to provide role models for people to emulate and that those in positions of influence and the press needs to emphasize these individuals’ successes.
Making observations on the Çerkezköy economy, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Çerkezköy has an established industrial tradition and culture.” Stating that 37 of the 1000 largest companies in Turkey are situated in Çerkezköy, the notable obstacles being that the taxation procedures take place in Istanbul where the company headquarters are located, instead of Çerkezköy.
In his speech, the President of the Çerkezköy Chamber of Trade and Industry, Dursun Ali Tever, also touched on the significance of Çerkezköy’s contributions to Turkey’s growth and the wide range of exports carried out from Çerkezköy, spanning 5 continents.
