M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), attended the opening session of the Erciyes Summit, themed “Climate, Water, Food, and Security,” hosted by Erciyes University.

In a statement posted on his social media account, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “At the Erciyes Summit, themed ‘Climate, Water, Food, and Security’ and hosted by Erciyes University; we held the opening session together with our Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Mr. Murat Kurum; our Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. İbrahim Yumaklı; our Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr. Oruç Baba İnan; and our Rector of Erciyes University, Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to organizing the event, particularly Mr. Hulusi Akar, Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.

The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly evident around the world. The fight against climate change is no longer just an environmental issue; it has become the industrial and competitive challenge of the 21st century. The green transition should be viewed not as a cost item, but as a tool for competitiveness and development. For Türkiye, which imports approximately 70 percent of its energy, energy efficiency and renewable energy are no longer a matter of choice. They are a macroeconomic necessity. “Just as Kayseri has written a success story in its industrialization process, it will do its very best in the green transition and in the fight against climate change,” he said.
