In a message to commemorate May 19th Atatürk Commemoration, Youth and Sports Day, the Union of Chambers and Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that May 19th, is the first step in the fight for liberty of this noble nation which does not accept captivity.

Hisarcıklıoğlu, "All over the world, a story to inspire the oppressed, began on May 19th, 1919, under the leadership of the Great Commander Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Samsun, and then a great saga was written in history. Today it is also a symbol of our struggle for liberty."

Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:

“May 19th, 1919 is a day that should never be forgotten in the struggle for existence of our nation, which does not accept captivity, does not give up its freedom, does not give in to persecution.

There are also profound meanings beneath the gift of this meaningful day to our youth. Atatürk saw the future in the hands of youth, in their hearts and always trusted them.

We stand by this idea until the end.

We are sure that the good days will be shaped in the hands of our youth. As long as we trust and make way for them.

Our youth will claim the success and proud history of our ancestors. They will take our country to a much higher level.

On behalf of the Turkish business world, with these feelings and thoughts, I commemorate all our veterans and martyrs, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades in arms, with the utmost gratitude and respect and I wholeheartedly congratulate our beloved nation's May 19th Atatürk Commemoration, Youth and Sports Day.”
