The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, along with the Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Mehdi Eker, visited the Diyarbakır Chamber of Industry and Commerce’s (DTSO) newly elected board.

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu drew attention to the fact that there are revolutionary innovations in the last elections of the DTSO, viewing the election of a young president and the inclusion of women in the board of directors as revolutionary. Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We are witnessing two new firsts in the history of Diyarbakır.

Three presidents of the DTSO are sitting together. You won’t see this in any other city; Kutbettin Arzu, Galip Ensarioğlu and Ahmet Sayar are sitting together. We’ve undertaken works to develop Diyarbakır’s industry with the presidents of the past. I’ve seen the intelligence of the Diyarbakır people in Galip Ensarioğlu and Kutbettin Arzu. DTSO has taken two revolutionary steps. I congratulate our industrialists in this regard. One of these is the election of the youngest DTSO president to date, Ahmet Sayar. We see the future of our country in the hands of the youth and women. As TOBB, by founding the Young and Women Entrepreneurs Council in 2007, we said that the way for youth and women needs to be opened. I am proud to see the most beautiful display of this today in DTSO. The youngest elected president and, just as important, the first woman elected to the council in DTSO’s history – also becoming the vice president. This is the most important indicator that Diyarbakır is the leader of its region.”

- Interest in Diyarbakır increasing

Speaking at the visit in the DTSO offices, Minister Eker stressed the importance of the developments made by the DTSO for the city and emphasized the importance of the solution process. Eker reported that interest in Diyarbakır is increasing and spoke about the progress made in Diyarbakır.
