In his speech, President Gül stated that the Center would be, “the first academic institute of Islam in Oxford which will play an important role in regards to the understanding of Islam’s true meaning both in the West and the East,” stressing that the Center will elevate the values of solidarity and mutual understanding to their highest levels which are so necessary in today’s world.​

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the dinner to promote the Oxford Islamic Studies Center, held at the Dolmabahçe Palace by the President of the Republic of Turkey. In his speech, President Gül stated that the Center would be, “the first academic institute of Islam in Oxford which will play an important role in regards to the understanding of Islam’s true meaning both in the West and the East,” stressing that the Center will elevate the values of solidarity and mutual understanding to their highest levels which are so necessary in today’s world.​

 

- Oxford Islamic Research Center

Oxford Islamic Studies Center will be active independently as a part of Oxford University.

The Center was established in 1985 with the aim of understanding the religion of Islam better and training independent academic researchers focused on the Islamic world.


The Center, under the patronage of the Prince Charles of Wales, received royal statute from Elizabeth II, Queen of England.
The Center is construction a new campus with the donations from the Islamic world and England. Thirty students receive scholarship from the Center to receive education in the various faculties of the Oxford University.

The Center is supported by Organization of Islamic Cooperation of which Turkey is also a member.
