TOBB Turkish Beverage Industry Assembly: “Food Auditing Transfer to private sector is not in compliance with the EU Legislation"

Turkish Beverage Industry Assembly gathered at TOBB Plaza in İstanbul under the presidency of Feyhan Yaşar, President of the Assembly. Prof. Dr. Nevzat Artık, academic advisor to the assembly made a presentation to members concerning 3 different regulation drafts prepared by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, concerning “Registry and Acceptance procedure of Food enterprises”, “Food hygiene” and “Official controls”. ​

​Beverage Assembly agreed that in accordance with “EU legislation and Food Security Chapter”, auditing of sector should be under government’s responsibility and cannot be transferred to private entities. -“Positive view on Draft Regulation concerning Food Hygiene” Prof. Dr. Artık, stating they have a common viewpoint on Draft Regulation concerning food hygiene with food assembly, pointed that they have suggestions such as they saw some deficiencies in some definitions and more fluent expressions should be used in some clauses and  some of them might be integrated with other clauses.  “Product – based Permission process is ruled out” Academic adviser of the assembly Mr.Artık, advocating problems may occur during registry and acceptance according to Draft Regulation of Official Controls, told that classification of food enterprises is considered as risk in vegetative supplementary products not in animal product. Feyhan Yaşar, President of TOBB Turkish Beverage Industry Assembly first shared information about the presentation he made during  V. Turkish Sectoral Economy Council at the meeting. Then Feyhan Yaşar made a comment of Turkish Economy in 2010 and said 2010 year was passed on in positive conditions compared with last two decades.
