M. Rifat Hisarcıkoğlu, the President of TOBB paid a visit to the logistics center in Ankara. He said investment in this sector, is the right type of investment. He added “Ankara would constitute a base for logistics and a role model for other regions” Hisarciklioglu stressed the importance of transport sector for Turkey. He said that the new production center will be based  to the east of  Turkey thus revitalizing the Historical Silk Road is a very important opportunity for both Turkey and the wider region.

During the visit of Hisarcıklıoğlu, a presentation was made about the center. He then toured the facility and received information. Hisarcıklıoğlu said in a speech to industry representatives that he heard very positive things about the Center even before coming but seeing it on the ground from first hand made the picture complete. He then congratulated everyone who contributed to this success. He added “From our drivers to industrialists, this place is a great convenience. The crucial word for our era is cost. I do not think there might be a better service. I also congratulate people of Ankara who performed the first and unique in this sector. After this example, you are the target and the role model. Being a pioneer is a great pleasure.

Hisarcıklıoğlu also added: “We do not pay attention to Ankara enough. The wealth of Ankara is of interest to everyone who lives in the city of Ankara, no matter where they originally come from.  The richness of the city concerns all of us. Because of this, we need to be looking at how many resources we can gain to the city. We need to be supporting as people of Ankara, all the project that bring added value to the city. We have to create awareness about Ankara. We have to spend effort for making Ankara the capital of the service, industry and trade, too. To reach this, infrastructure and everything is available in Ankara”.

TOBB President Hisarciklioglu pointed that logistical center is an important infrastructural asset. He said, “transportation sector is important for us all. Turkey’s nearly 50 percent imports and exports are carried by road. So road transportation sector in Turkey is one of the main sectors. He added “today, we are the second in the world in road transportation. This is a great development. We are number one in Europe. We know this from TIR Carnets issued. We, as TOBB, give 35 billion dollars of bail”.
Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that “issuing and distributing digital tachograph cards is also being undertaken by Chambers of Commerce and currently the service is up and running. Drivers are receiving their digital tacograph cards”.
Hisarcıklıoğlu said “51 percent of world production is taking place in the countries to the east of Turkey. Before, it was the opposite, 50 percent of world production was done by the countries to the west of Turkey. But this has changed now. When you look closer to Chinese development, it encourages certain regions to develop more. First one is the Xinjiang Autonomous Region to the west of China. This is the new production area. 100 million people will be living here. Shanghai port is 4 thousand kilometres away. Indeed, a minimum of 3 months is needed for a ship  to reach to Europe. Think about the cost. So, what is the alternative way? It is revitalizing the ancient silk road. None of us do want to make a stocks due to extra costs incurred. This creates opportunities for the road transport sector. This is a big opportunity for Turkish transportation sector, our safety and our country. The investment in this sector will be rewarding. "
