Second Software Inventory Workshop in Ankara

Turkey Software Inventory Project Data Infrastructure Design and Analysis Workshop, which was organized under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology General Directorate of National Technology and under the coordination of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Software Council with the aim of establishing a software inventory system, was held in Ankara with the participation of public institutions, non-governmental organizations and the private sector.​

In the workshop, which started with the opening speeches of TOBB Deputy Secretary General Cengiz DelibaÅŸ, National Technology Deputy General Manager Ä°rfan Keskin and Turkish Software Council President Ertan Barut, the participants consulted at round tables for the collection of software inventory and the creation of the system.

In the opening speeches, it was stated that the Software Inventory Project, which was initiated for the creation of the software sector inventory, aims to support the institutionalization process of the software sector, to carry out the program and project creation processes based on data, to contribute to the development of policies and strategies in the software sector by the public and thus to benefit the sector more effectively and efficiently in incentive mechanisms. In addition, it was emphasized that with the Software Inventory Project, the data of the companies, the workforce and software products operating in the software sector will be created in a way that they will be permanent, sustainable and updatable.

With the presentation made by Consultant of the Turkey Software Council Ahmet Pekel and Council Member Aydın Kolat, information was given about the vocational-product classifications and the activities to be collected under the NACE code of the sector as a result of the Inventory Project Workshop, the first of which was held on February 24, 2022. Pekel and Kolat stated that with this workshop, it is aimed to collect suggestions such as the qualities of the data to be collected, the way it is collected, the institutions and organizations where the data will be provided.

At the end of the workshop, the moderators of the round tables made presentations to convey the issues decided at the tables. It collected results such as what data should be in the software inventory system to be created, how often it should be renewed, which public institutions should provide support in which matters. Council President Ertan Barut informed that the results of the workshop will be reported and shared with the public.
