Turkey Chemical Industry Council discussed the problems of the sector

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Chemical Industry Council met under the chairmanship of TOBB Vice President Ayhan Zeytinoğlu and Council President Timur Erk.​

Following the opening speeches of TOBB Vice President Ayhan Zeytinoğlu and Council President Timur Erk, evaluations were made with the Council Members about the current situation of the sector.

At the meeting, where the problems in the supply of raw materials and intermediate inputs were discussed in detail, the problems experienced in the supply chain were emphasized. It was stated that the recession in the chemical sector globally caused a decrease in the export figures of the chemical sector in our country.

Council Members stated that they are a sector that has to export based on imports, that the problems experienced in the supply chain may lead to bigger problems in the coming days and that they need to make some exceptions for the sector for precautionary purposes. 

At the meeting, the latest situation of the chemical industry, the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (PPE) and the European Green Deal were discussed in detail. Information was provided on the studies carried out on green consensus issues within the scope of TOBB and the contacts made.

The representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change who attended the meeting stated that they were aware of the importance of the KKDİK issue for the sector and stated that they were with the sector in this regard.
