Ambassador of Sweden to Turkey, H. E. Håkan Åkesson, visited our Union today and hosted by M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of TOBB. Since H.E. Åkesson appointed as Ambassador to Turkey last fall, this was a courtesy visit to TOBB.​ ​

Ambassador of the Netherlands H.E. Jan Paul Dirkse and Commercial Counsellor David Naves visited TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarciklioglu on 17 March 2011 at TOBB. The delegation exchanged views about the 400th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Turkey and Holland which will be celebrated in the year 2012. ​ ​

In his message for 18th March Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs Memorial Day, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that Çanakkale Victory is one of the milestones in our history and said “Mustafa Kemal and his comrades-in-arms wrote a legend in Çanakkale. This victory is the best example of what our nation can achieve in determination and unity.”​ ​

Infrastructure Should Be Build for Transportation and Banking to Reach 100 Billion Dollars Trade Volume Target with Russia

TOBB/DEİK President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated at Turkish-Russian Business Forum that the Turkish private sector wants to have stronger economic relations with Russia which reflects the economic potential of the two states. Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu mentioned that it is aimed to reach 100 billion dollars trade volume in 2015, and that trading and the banking infrastructure have to be prepared to meet this trade volume target. ​ ​

Free Trade Agreement Negotiations Should Start Between Turkey and Ukraine

The president of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu participated to the Turkish-Ukraine Business Council meeting in Istanbul and requested that negotiations about Free Trade Agreement should be started between Ukraine and Turkey.​ ​

North Africa Should Set Us an Example, We Shall Develop Trade in the Balkans

TOBB president M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu underlined the importance of trade to increase the welfare in the Balkans at the business dinner for Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaç. Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu mentioned the incidents took place in North Africa must be seriously considered and set an example for the possible outcomes of poverty.​ ​
