Chamber Presidents met in Ukraine
The Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan was the guest at the meeting organized with the participation of, President of TOBB, M. Rifat Hisarciklioglu, and Presidents of 360 Chamber and Commodity Exchange organized in the capital of Ukraine, Kiev. In his speech Erdoğan said, “We will achieve the goal of 40 billion dollars in 10 years by strengthening the commercial relations with Ukraine and reinforcing cooperation.”

Hisarciklioglu is at the Turkish-Ukrainian Business Council Joint Meetings and Business Forum
The President of TOBB and DEİK, M. Rifat Hisarciklioglu, attended the Turkish-Ukrainian Business Council Joint Meeting and Business Forum held in Ukraine Business and Cultural Center. The Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, spoke at the opening of the Forum specifying that decisions were reached regarding the agreements of Free Trade between Turkey and Ukraine, removal of visas and these agreements will be implemented parallel to the re-admission agreement. He stated that, “This agreement should turn into flesh and bone, be materialized and the visas should be removed as soon as possible.”

US Assistant Secretaries Fernandez and Camurez visited TOBB.
Assistant Secretary, Economic, Energy and Business Affairs, U.S. Department of State Jose W. Fernandez and Assistant Secretary, Department of Commerce Michael Camunez visited TOBB on January 24th, 2011. In the framework of the meeting, ideas were exchanged on increasing efforts on Turkey-US economic and trade relations.

Turkey is the second emerging economy in the world after China.
TOBB President, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, designated Turkey as the second emerging economy in the world. He emphasized that the Turkish economy grew by 8.9 percent over the last 9 months and it is the outcome of an increase in private sector investments. “In this period as Turkish private sector we provided 1.100.000 jobs and 980.000 of those registered”.

EU Environment Chapter requires significant amount of capacity building
TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu who spoke at the “Smart Management: Regulatory Impact Assessment” conference, within the scope of the Capacity Building in the Field of Environment Project for Turkey, highlighted that as it was the case for the countries that acceded to the EU in the previous wave, there is the need for Turkey to build capacity in a serious manner while mentioning “We know the harmonisation of the EU Environment Chapter is a costly one. However, while working out the figures, we speak of global figures in the process. Unfortunately we have been unable to come up with these figures”.
