TOBB undertakes various responsibilities
in compliance with regulations and national interests in order to
protect the rights of free enterprise both at home and abroad and
also negotiate with the relevant authorities on their behalf. The
main responsibilities of TOBB are;
To take all necessary measures for the development of chambers and
commodity exchanges,
To prepare reports on the economical conditions in Turkey and further
to inform the government authorities and the public about its own
views and proposals,
To provide information and its own analysis on economical affairs
to the Commissions of the Grand National Assembly and the Ministries,
To establish contacts with the foreign chambers and commodity exchanges,
to develop relations with international professional organizations,
to form joint ventures, to become members, to participate in professional
meetings and to follow up the reports,
To resolve professional disputes arising amongst chambers and commodity
exchanges,
To hold all national and/ or international exhibitions and fairs and
to participate in them,
To be a member of International Chamber of Commerce, to constitute
the Turkish National Committee and to follow up its progress,
To implement and supervise EAN bar code system,
To publish Turkish Trade Register Gazette,
To undertake the guarantee liabilities relating to the TIR system,
to organise the activities of the transportation companies within
the system and to issue their transit entry documents,
To execute other responsibilities that may be given by the Ministry
of Commerce and Industry in accordance with the implementation regulations.
Apart from the duties allocated to TOBB
as identified by the law and with the decision of the Cabinet and
the permission of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, some of which
have been listed above, TOBB has also undertaken duties such as the
activities related to subsidiaries supported by chambers and commodity
exchanges and with the assistance provided to them, has also engaged
itself in increasing the productivity in Turkey, implanting and introducing
standard ideas and as well as safeguarding, developing and promoting
economical and social assets.
Function of TOBB
The main aim of TOBB can be summarized
as providing and supporting the unity and solidarity between chambers
and commodity exchanges and as well as developing trade and industry
sector according to their general interests, facilitating professional
activities, giving priority to public approach in confidence and honesty,
protecting professional ethics and discipline.
