'Agriculture and greenhouse' holds top spot in the number of fairs; 'Book' fairs in the number of visitors

According to the 2019 fair statistics announced by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB); 482 national and international fairs were held throughout Turkey. Of these, 475 were in specialized fairs and 7 were in general fairs. 349 national and 133 international fairs were held in 2019. The total number of visits reached 25,828,251, of which 719,267 were foreigners.​

On a sectoral basis, the most fairs took place in the field of agriculture, greenhouse, livestock and technologies with 66 fairs. This was followed by training, training equipment and technologies with 41 fairs, heating, cooling, ventilation, natural gas and systems, construction materials, bathroom, kitchen, ceramics, hardware, plumbing category with 31 fairs.

The most visitors were seen at the fairs in the field of books and periodicals with 6,959,317 people. Then came agriculture, greenhouse, livestock and technologies with 5,763,148 visitors, and computer, information technologies, telecommunications fairs with 2,006,123 visitors.

- Istanbul leading with 195 fairs

A total of 62,293 participants participated in 482 fairs. When looking at the statistics of the cities where the fairs were held, the first place was Ä°stanbul with 195 fairs, Izmir took second place with 38 fairs and Ankara with 37 fairs.  Antalya 27, Bursa followed these cities with 22 fairs. It was observed that April and October came to the fore on a month-by-month basis. The fewest fairs were held in August.
