The Central Anatolia E-Export Conference was held by the World E-Commerce Forum (Worldef) at TOBB University of Economics and Technology in cooperation with the Association of Industrialists and Businessmen (TUMSIAD) and Webolizma.

Faik Yavuz, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Board Treasurer, said at the opening of the conference that only 5% of total retail trade in Turkey is made through the electronic medium.

Yavuz pointed out the prevalence of mobile connections in Turkey, the high quality and the high rates of smartphone usage and the importance of this in terms of e-commerce potential and infrastructure compliance, and said, “We can be among the world's leading countries in this field with the unity of the public and private sectors, but the first factor slowing down the development of e-commerce is lack of trust.”

Yavuz noted that another factor that slows down the development of e-commerce is a lack of information, expressed that they are producing projects with technology companies to eliminate it.

Yavuz stated that they want to improve e-commerce not only from company to consumer, but also from company to company.

“For this purpose, we have established the TOBB2B platform. We bring our companies together on the same platform as other companies where they can do business in the world. Both Turkish and foreign companies can easily transfer their products, activities and the types of collaborations they want to do to the internet environment and add their demands and offers to the system. More than 4,000 companies from 100 countries registered on the system in only a short time.”
