The “Turkey-Kuwait Business Forum” was held in İstanbul in cooperation with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry to evaluate bilateral cooperation and investment opportunities between Turkey and Kuwait.

Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci, TOBB Vice President Halim Mete, Minister of Trade and Industry of Kuwait Khaled Al Roudan and Board Member of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdullah Al Humaidha attended the forum which enjoyed high level representation from Kuwait’s Investors Union, Banking Association, Food Sector Association, Tourism Association and Hoteliers' Union as well as Kuwait companies.

Speaking at the opening of the forum, TOBB Vice Chairman Halim Mete remarked that the Islamic world is struggling with various problems. “In Myanmar, Arakan Muslims are being massacred in front of the whole world. They are being taken from their homes. Like Turkey, the Kuwait State is also happy to side with Myanmar Muslims and send them help. The crisis that is happening in the Gulf region is upsetting our business world. We want to solve the problem through dialogue. In this respect, we are very pleased to follow the Kuwaiti State's mediation efforts.”

Stating that there is serious potential for further mutual trade, Mete expressed that they will do more as the business community to further enhance mutual trade.

Mete also emphasized need for the TPS-OIC agreement, which will provide preferential trade opportunities between Islamic countries, to enter into force.
