$10 billion trade target with Ukraine

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu met with Sergiy Tsivkach, CEO of Ukraine's Investment Agency 'UkraineInvest', at a business dinner.​

In addition to the members of the Turkey-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum established between TOBB and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Onur Çetinceviz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Onur Taahhüt Transportation Construction Trade and Industry Inc., Burak Pehlivan, President of the Turkish Ukrainian Businessmen's Association (TUİD), Ahmet Güldal, Chairman and General Manager of the Land Crops Office, Ülkü Karakuş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Feed Industrialists Association and Chairman of the Turkish Agricultural Council, Natalia Lopatina, Undersecretary of the Ukrainian Embassy in Ankara, and business people participated in the meeting.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that trade relations between Turkey and Ukraine are improving and that in the first ten months of 2021, despite the pandemic, exports increased by about 70%. Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that Turkey and Ukraine have set a trade volume target of $10 billion.

Emphasizing the importance of signing and enacting the Free Trade Agreement as soon as possible, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that as of now, there are around 700 Turkish companies in Ukraine and there is an investment of $4.1 billion. He stated that Turkey has been the country that has invested the most in Ukraine in the last 5 years.

UkraineInvest CEO Sergiy Tsivkach, who gave a presentation on investment opportunities in Ukraine, said they would like to see more Turkish investors in Ukraine.

After my opening speech and presentation, the participants exchanged views on Turkey-Ukraine trade and economic relations and investment opportunities in Ukraine.

The Turkey-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum was established in 2019 by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI). The Chamber’s Turkish side President and members are appointed by TOBB, and the Ukrainian side is appointed by UCCI. Annual economic summits, joint board meetings, business forums, business meetings and efforts to improve Turkey-Ukraine business relations are the main areas of study of the Turkey-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum.
