TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu gave the following statement regarding the US Department of the Treasury’s decision for sanctions against two of Turkey's ministers:

“Turkey-US relations are based on a foundation of strong traditions, friendship, alliance, strategic partnership and mutual benefit with a successful history. Relations have overcome many difficult tests in the past.

In this context, it is not possible to accept sanctions imposed by the Trump administration which have no basis in any international law or practice.

We stand by our government and ministers against this decision of the United States

This erroneous decision must be reversed with all due haste.

We are inviting the US administration to act responsibly.”
