28.06.2018 / Ankara

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) June Council Meeting. Hisarcıklıoğlu extended his well-wishes for the new term.

Hisarcıklıoğlu, observing that 64% of the council is comprised of new members, said “What does ATO do; what is its history? This must be understood well. This is a centennial institution. You must endeavor to do more.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out to the members of the council that chambers and exchanges are the most democratic institutions of the country, "We all come to office through the votes of our colleagues who are our competitors. This is not an easy task. Our members vote for whoever serves better. Whoever is elected is the representative of that sector in Ankara. You must serve all your members for 4 years whether they voted for you or not. You are obliged to represent them. It is the joint duty of all of you to enrich Ankara further.”

- Our female members must be role models

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the task set to them by the Constitution is to protect the rights, and interests of their members, “We are not the executive authority. We will learn the troubles of members. We will think about the solution and we will report to the government along with our solution proposal.”

Pointing out that there are 2 women in the ATO Council, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “I am proud of them. I hope the number of female members will increase even further.”

Underlining the need to increase the number of entrepreneurs in order to prosper, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu urged women entrepreneurs to become role models for young women.

Stating that economy and reforms should be on the agenda post-election Hisarcıklıoğlu gave his assessment of the state of the national and global economy.
