Visit to Mersin Governor Çakacak and Mayor Kocamaz

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu visited the Mersin Governor Özdemir Çakacak and Mayor Burhanettin Kocamaz at their offices.​

Governor Çakacak greeted TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu at the Gubernatorial Palace. Accompanying Hisarcıklıoğlu were Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chair Şerafettin Aşut, Mersin Commodity Exchange Chair Abdullah Özdemir and Chamber of Maritime Commerce Chair Cihat Lokmanoğlu. President Hisarcıklıoğlu signed the Honor Ledger and held a meeting with Çakacak and the delegation accompanying him. Hisarcıklıoğlu, stating that they witnessed his successful works in Kırşehir, expressed their belief that Governor Çakacak would accomplish even more in Mersin and wished him success.

 

Özdemir Çakacak expressed his pleasure in the visit. At the end of the visit Hisarcıklıoğlu presented Governor çakacak with a copy of the Book of Dede Korkut, the originals of which are only found in the Vatican and Dresden.

 

- Municipality visit

 

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu visited Mersin Municipality Mayor Burhanettin Kocamaz and wished him success in his post.

 

Thanking Kocamaz for his service as Tarsus Mayor, Hisarcıklıoğlu wished him success in his new posting and stated that Mersin with its fertile soil, tourism potential, industry and port, is a doorway to the world and that turning this into profit would require the cooperation of the governor, mayor, parliamentary representatives, chamber and exchange chairs.

 

Pointing out the necessity of a new Marmara Region which encompasses the provinces in Çukurova, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The basin encompassing Adana, Mersin, Tarsus and even Konya and Kayseri are being considered by the Development Ministry. We are supporting the project as TOBB.”

 

Stressing that the most significant issues affecting Turkey and Mersin is unemployment, Mayor Kocamaz emphasized the need to further incentivize investors to invest in Mersin in order to address the issue of unemployment.
