Afghanistan Minister of Mines, Vahidullah Şehrani was the guest of TOBB. Guest Minister, who made a presentation on investment opportunities in Afghanistan to the cement, mining and construction sector representatives, pointing to the possibilities and capabilities of Turkish companies, has invited Turkish contractors to tenders in Afghanistan.​

​Telling that Afghanistan has the lowest tax system in the region, Şehrani stated: "We want to see more Turkish firms in our country. Moreover, we make arrangements preferable for Turkish investors, "he said During the meeting held at TOBB headquarters, Minister of Mines, Şehrani emphasizing  the important works of Turkish investors in Afghanistan, said that more than 1000 km of high-quality highway projects were carried out by Turkish Contractors. Şehrani stated that arrangements made especially in the field of mineral resources will attract global investors and expressed that Afghanistan is a strategic country in terms of this issue.  Şehrani expressed that the value of mineral resources in their country is  around 3 trillion dollars and that they are open to cooperate with Turkey primarily in copper, iron, lithium, and with all kinds of gas, including mining, and expressed the importance of construction and cement sectors. Indicating that there is a large deposit of copper and iron in Afghanistan, Şehrani stated:  "There are 15-20 million tons of iron bed in our country. This is equal to 10-15 million tons of copper bed and we localized 3.4 million barrels of crude oil found. In construction sector we have natural resources such as granite, marble. We consume 12 thousand 500 tons of cement per day in Afghanistan. Another thing that would make Afghanistan attractive is lithium. Afghanistan is full of opportunities in terms of lithium. We believe that the Turkish companies will be interested in these areas.  “We have significant progress for the settlement of security” Minister of Mines of Afghanistan invited the mining and construction companies along with other sectors to cooperate with Afghan companies. Şehrani pointed out that they are aware of the role of locomotive of the private sector they assign great importance to it. Şehrani stated that there were no prevailing problems in transportation and the express road reserves are integrated. Şehrani also confirmed that within 6-7 years Turkey will be one of the 10 most developed countries in the world and will play an important role in the shift of the mineral market of Europe.  “Turkish Cement Companies Exports to 90 Countries” TOBB Cement Assembly President Mr. Adnan İğnebekçili expressed that cement is one of the indispensable items of the construction sector which has a revenue of 11 billion dollars. Indicating that Turkish cement companies exports to 90 countries but they are choosing short distance places because of high transport costs. İğnebekçili continued “I think that Afghanistan is another candidate country for investment for our companies.”
