Automotive Industry Presidential Council election

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Automotive Industry Presidential Council Election meeting was held with the participation of Council members under the chairmanship of TOBB Board Member Davut Çetin.​

TOBB Board of Directors Member Davut Çetin said that the Turkish Sector Councils operating under the roof of TOBB were established in 2006 and that there are currently 65 Sector Councils, and that new members join the Council to contribute to the work of the Council every term.

Stating that the purpose of the councils is to produce solutions to the problems encountered on a sectoral basis and to contribute to the development of the sectors by implementing these solution proposals, Çetin emphasized that the issues that will shed light on the development of the private sector are determined in the Sector Councils. Çetin stated that the Councils are the platform that brings together the public, private sector and sectoral non-governmental organizations on a legal basis and wished the election to be beneficial.

Council President Cengiz Eroldu said that the Sector Council is important and useful for the automotive industry. Explaining that sector representatives shared problems with the representatives of the Ministry and made attempts to propose solutions, Eroldu stated that the automotive industry is one of the locomotive sectors of Turkey. Eroldu stated that there is a locality rate of 45 percent in light vehicles, 100 percent in buses and midi-buses and over 80 percent in heavy vehicles in the Turkish market. Eroldu stated that it plays a very important role in Turkey's exports with highly successful and high quality products in all segments of the automotive industry and that it is proud that the automotive industry is so developed.

After the opening speeches, the election of the Presidential Council was held. As a result of the election, Cengiz Eroldu, CEO of Tofaş Turk Automobile Factory Co. Inc., was re-elected as the President of the Council, and Özlem Güçlüer, Secretary General of the Automotive Industry Association (OSD), was elected as the Vice President of the Council.

After the election meeting, the meeting was ended by discussing the six months of business results of the automotive industry in 2022, the negative effects of financial regulations on the export competitiveness of the automotive industry and the Effect of the Dumping Tax on Some Hot Flat Steel Products of the European Union and South Korea.
