“Pilot Phase of the Emissions Trading System Should Be Brought Forward”

The Green Deal Workgroup convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu. The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Vice President Ayhan Zeytinoğlu attended the online meeting and made a speech.​

The meeting, which started with the opening speech of Mustafa Tuzcu, continued with the speeches of the Deputy Ministers. In the speeches, the work of institutions / organizations on the Green Deal was discussed. The responsible institutions and organizations provided information about the stage of the actions included in the Green Deal Action Plan and the activities of the specialized workgroups. The work to be done after this was summarized.

Ayhan Zeytinoğlu, who spoke at the meeting stated that the Russian-Ukrainian War showed the importance of energy supply; he drew attention to the importance of renewable energy investments. Stating that it would be beneficial to send the Climate Law to the private sector for opinion before it is presented to the TGNA, Zeytinoğlu said that the Emission Trading System should be established as soon as possible and the pilot phase should be brought forward.

Ayhan Zeytinoğlu then conveyed the work done by TOBB. Stating that the efforts to provide education and awareness are continuing without slowing down, Zeytinoğlu said that the Climate Portal will be implemented soon and the Carbon Footprint Calculation Software will be offered to members free of charge.
