Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

Chambers/commodity exchanges, sector councils, textile and air conditioning companies and public institutions participated in the trainings held on 9 June 2022 for the textile sector and 10 June 2022 for the HVAC-R sector.

The opening speech of the trainings was made by Ayşe Çelebi Doğan, Director of Sector Councils. Doğan stated that the sectoral trainings on the Green Deal started with the Fertilizer sector and that these trainings would be organized for other sectors.

In the first part of the trainings, a general framework was presented and the Paris Agreement and Green Deal Relationship, Fit For 55 Package Content, the scope of the Carbon Regulation Mechanism at the Border, the implementation and transition process, the risks and opportunities for our country and the sectors subject to education were explained.

In the second part, more details regarding the sector were touched on. The ISO 14064-1 Corporate Carbon Footprint Relationship with SKDM, the steps to be followed for calculation, the data and calculation factors needed according to the ISO 14064-1: 2018 standard, the categorization of emissions, the status of the facilities not covered by the SKDM were provided and answers were sought to questions such as where and how to obtain the data needed, and how to verify the emissions. The new textile strategy of the EU for the textile sector and its reflections on our country were explained.

Finally, after the question and answer session, the training ended.

Green Deal sectoral trainings will continue for other sectors that are expected to be affected by SKDM in the coming periods.
