US Assistant Secretaries Fernandez and Camurez visited TOBB.

Assistant Secretary, Economic, Energy and Business Affairs, U.S. Department of State Jose W. Fernandez and Assistant Secretary, Department of Commerce Michael Camunez visited TOBB on January 24th, 2011. In the framework of the meeting, ideas were exchanged on increasing efforts on Turkey-US economic and trade relations. ​ ​

Turkey is the second emerging economy in the world after China.

TOBB President, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, designated Turkey as the second emerging economy in the world. He emphasized that the Turkish economy grew by 8.9 percent over the last 9 months and it is the outcome of an increase in private sector investments. “In this period as Turkish private sector we provided 1.100.000 jobs and 980.000 of those registered”. ​ ​

EU Environment Chapter requires significant amount of capacity building

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu who spoke at the “Smart Management: Regulatory Impact Assessment” conference, within the scope of the Capacity Building in the Field of Environment Project for Turkey, highlighted that as it was the case for the countries that acceded to the EU in the previous wave, there is the need for Turkey to build capacity in a serious manner while mentioning “We know the harmonisation of the EU Environment Chapter is a costly one. However, while working out the figures, we speak of global figures in the process. Unfortunately we have been unable to come up with these figures”. ​ ​

Problems are discussed in detail during the ECO CCI Committee meetings

Various issues and solutions were raised during the “Trade Facilitation”, “Industry and Investment” and “Transportation Committee” meetings of the ongoing ECO CCI meetings that are being held in Tehran. The President of Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoglu will be attending the Excutive Committee and General Assembly meetings of ECO CCI.  ​ ​

President of The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and Foriegn Economic Relations Board, Hisarcıklıoğlu, has travelled to Iran together with a delegation of Chamber Presidents and delegates to attend the Economic Cooperation Organization Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (ECO CCI) General Assembly and Executive Committee  meetings and to hold bilateral meetings.​ ​

''Turkey should be the main pillar of Greece exit strategy''

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu, attended the “2nd Turkish-Greece Regional Business Forum”, which was held in Komothini on January 15th, 2011. HE Nihat Ergün, Minister of Industry and Trade also attended the business Forum. In the course of his visit Mr. Hisarciklioglu and TOBB delegation came together with the Muslim Minority in Xantia and Komotini.​ ​

Hisarcıklıoğlu called attention to the increase of intermediate goods imports

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, who delivered a speech at  Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) Assembly meeting  called attention to the increase  of intermediate goods imports  and said that , ''Increase in intermediate goods imports means that Ahmet in Bursa, Hasan in Konya, Ayşe in Kayseri will be unemployed and the  manufacturers which  produce intermediate goods would  close. This is the most important structural problem that we have.” ​ ​
