Employee and employer representatives visit Türk-İş

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, “Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay stands for democracy, state, country, nation and stability who thinks with a national perspective.”​

A delegation consisting of representatives of employers and employees lead by Hisarcıklıoğlu visited the Turkey Confederation of Labor Unions (Turk-Is) Chairman Ergün Atalay whose statements at the Minimum Wage Fixing Commission created controversy.

Hisarcıklıoğlu, speaking at the meeting at the Turk-İş Headquarters, stated that they are visiting Atalay in regards to the controversy surrounding his statements in recent days, “.Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay stands for democracy, state, country, nation and stability who thinks with a national perspective.”

Pointing out that Atalay's stance during the coup attempt on July 15, 2016 is known to all, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the discussions about Atalay would not stick to him. Hisarcıklıoğlu urged an end to the issue.

Upon the question of journalists regarding the minimum wage negotiations, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The minimum wage is separate and our visit is separate. The minimum wage will be discussed in its legal platform.”

- “There's nothing more to say; I’ve said what should be said.”

Ergün Atalay said, in regards to the Minimum Wage Fixing Commission talks, “Today, at 14:00, the Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions (DISK) will be here. All the paper collectors in Ankara will be here tomorrow. There’s nothing more to say; I’ve said what should be said.

Atalay, pointing out that they didn’t discuss wage issues with the government, said, “You’ve seen the latest figures. We will continue to be on the side of the workers and Turkey. I will not step back.”

Also present during the visit were Turkey Kamu-Sen President Önder Kahveci, Turkey Tradesmen and Artisans Confederation (TESK) Deputy Chairman Burhan Aksak and Turkey Confederation of Employer Associations (TISK) Secretary General Akansel Koç.
