ECONOMIC COOPERATION ORGANIZATION CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (ECO CCI)

 

 
 

ECO Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is affiliated to Economic Cooperation Organization, has been established in 1991 by Turkey, Pakistan and Iran on the basis of Izmir Agreement. The number of the members increased to 10 with the participation of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) held the Presidency and Secretariat of the Chamber for three years (2007 – 2010).

ISLAMIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (ICCI)

 

 
Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is affiliated to Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), was established with a decision of the OIC 7th Meeting of Foreign Ministers that took place in Istanbul, in 1976. The Chambers of Commerce and Industry / Associations / Federations of member countries constitute the members of the Islamic Chamber. Islamic Chamber carries out its efforts in enhancing cooperation among its members and the similar organizations of OIC member countries and augmenting joint investments among the member countries. Our Union is a member of the Board with the task of Vice Presidency. Our Union participates in the Chamber’s Board of Directors, General Assembly and private sector meetings. The Vice Presidency of Islamic Chamber is being executed by, Mr. M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, the President of our Union.

ASSOCIATION OF MEDITERRANEAN CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (ASCAME)

 

 

Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) was established in 1982 as a non-profit international organization. The countries with a coast to the Mediterranean constitute the member Chambers of ASCAME, whose presidency is being executed by Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO).  Approximately five hundred Chambers that are located in Mediterranean countries are the members of ASCAME, which manifests its activities in the fields of economic development, trade and cooperation. Apart from these members, ASCAME also has 21 joint partners including TOBB.

THE BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO THE OECD - BIAC

 

 

As a representative of the business world of OECD, The Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD – BIAC started its operations as an independent organization in 1962. BIAC is one of the leading business organizations of 30 OECD countries, enclosing more than eight million companies. BIAC has Committees and Policy Groups concerned with a wide variety of subjects which includes multinational firms and SMEs.  TOBB has been a member of BIAC since the foundation. Depending on its priorities and interests, TOBB takes part in some of BIAC’s Committees. In June 2005, TOBB hosted the BIAC General Assembly with two other Turkish members of BIAC.

ASSOCIATION OF BALKAN CHAMBERS (ABC) 

 

 

Association of Balkan Chambers (ABC) was founded as a non-profit, nonpolitical and non-governmental organization in 1994. It was established to boost economic and commercial cooperation between the Balkan countries by regional cooperation and by harmonizing the national legislation. It provides information flow between the member Unions/Chambers and creates tangible cooperation in various sectors. Today, ABC has 10 members; Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Montenegro, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Turkey. TOBB held the Presidency of the Association of Balkan Chambers in 2008.

GERMAN – TURKISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (DTR-IHK) AND TURKISH – GERMAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (TD-IHK)

 

 

 

According to the protocols signed between our Union and The German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), German-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DTR-IHK) was founded in 1994 in Istanbul and Turkish-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TD-IHK) was founded in 2004 in Cologne.
There is a TOBB representative in both Chambers’ Executive Boards. The purpose of the Chambers is to build a bridge between the two countries’ businessmen, to maintain a better acknowledgement between these businessmen and to contribute the commercial and economic relationship between the two countries. 228 of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges are members of TD-IHK.

WORLD CHAMBERS FEDERATION (WCF)
 
 
 

 

  
The World Chambers Federation (WCF) is International Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC) specialized division for its chamber of commerce members worldwide.
Since its creation in the early 1950's, the World Chambers Federation has served as a platform where chamber leaders and senior executives communicate with each other and collaborate on matters of mutual interest, whether solving problems or realizing opportunities.
Local, regional, national, bilateral and transnational chambers, public and private law chambers, from all parts of the world are involved in WCF activities and projects.
WCF projects focus on exchange of best practices and experiences among chambers, building of personal relationships, and exploring the development of new products/services for chambers at all level.
All of the Chambers that are members of ICC by means of their National Committees are also members of WCF. Our Union is a member of ICC as well as WCF.
TOBB President Mr. Rifat Hisacıklıoğlu is the Chairman of The Board of Directors of ICC’s Turkey National Committee. Mr. Rona Yırcalı, Chairman of the Executive Board of DEIK , is WCF’s President.
The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) hosted the 5th of the World Chambers Federation Congress, which is held once in every two years, on 4-6 July 2007.
World Chambers Congress is the only international forum that brings 12.000 chambers throughout the world and the local, national and international private sector organizations’ Presidents and representatives together.
5th World Chambers Congress provided and created an exceptional platform in order to present our country’s  possibilities and cooperation opportunities in economic and commercial areas with the other countries in the world.

TURKISH-GERMAN COOPERATION COUNCIL

 

Turkish-German Cooperation Council is a platform coordinated by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries, where the private sector and government authorities of the two countries come together to discuss about commercial and economic issues and promote economic cooperation between Turkey and Germany. The council consist of four study groups which are “Trade”, “Industry and Investment",  "Tourism" and "Science, Research and Technology." Co-Presidency of the Working Group on Trade the Turkish side is held by our Union and on the German side by German-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry. There is also an “Agriculture Study Committee” that functions under the Working Group on Trade to discuss topics about the trade of agricultural products.

TURKISH-AMERICAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSRTY

 

 

Turkish-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded in 2002 and is a private and non-profit organization. It serves to member companies that do business or want to do business between Turkey and USA. The Chamber purposes to protect the common interest of its members by official institutions, chambers of commerce and international institutions. Our Union has a representative in the Board of the Chamber.

CONFEDERATION OF ASIA-PACIFIC CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY
 
 

 
The Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) is a regional grouping of apex national chambers of commerce and industry, business associations and business enterprises in Asia and the Western Pacific.  It is a non-governmental organization serving as a forum for promoting the vital role of businessmen in the region, increasing regional business interaction, and enhancing regional economic growth. Since its establishment in 1966 CACCI has grown into a network of national chambers of commerce with a total now of 29 Primary Members and over 3 million member private enterprises.

In order to enhance the economic and commercial relations with the countries in the region, TOBB became a member of CACCI in 2009.
 
 

 
 
  
THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL (ECOSOC)
 
 
 
The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations constitutes one of the six principal organs of the United Nations and its main areas of interest are sustainable development, social development, status of women, population and human rights development.

Many programs, funds and similar structures operating under the umbrella of United Nations are included in the study area of ECOSOC. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), World Health Organization (WHO), The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) constitute a few examples of these structures. ECOSOC has a membership system. The Council has 54 member Countries and they are elected in every 3 years to take place in the council. TOBB was granted with Special Consultative Status by ECOSOC on 28 July 2009.
 
 
 

 
 
 
THE WORLD TOURISM ORGANIZATION (UNWTO)
 
 


 
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is a specialized agency of the United ‎Nations and the leading international organization in the field of tourism. It serves as a ‎global forum for tourism policy issues and a practical source of tourism know-how.‎
Its membership includes 150 countries, 7 territories and over 400 Affiliate ‎Members representing the private sector, educational institutions, hotel chains ‎and travel companies.
UNWTO plays a central and decisive role in promoting the development of responsible, ‎sustainable and universally accessible tourism, paying particular attention to the ‎ economic growth, creation of job opportunities, protection of natural and cultural heritage, peace and respect for human rights.
Our Union is a member since 2009 to represent the tourism sector to contribute to international platforms and to take part in decision-making organs. In the near future, it is planned to organize joint events with WTO and arrange activites with wide range of particapation of membering countries to introduce our country.
 
 

 
 
FEDERATION OF D-8 CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY
 
 

 
Federation of D-8 Chambers of Commerce and Industry was established in Egypt during the meeting of specialists group in 19-20 January 2000, in order to bring together and enable cooperation between private sector organizations of the countries under one platform.


Member chambers to the Federation of D-8 Chambers of Commerce and Industry are Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Federation of Egypt Chambers of Commerce, Indonesian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Iranian Chambers of Commerce Industry and Mines, Malaysian National Chambers of Commerce and Industry, The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture and our Union.
